Visual Art Teacher, Portland Public Schools

2013 — Present

Designed and implemented standards-based visual arts curriculum serving more than 600 K–5 students annually, integrating literacy, science, mathematics, music, social-emotional learning, and culturally responsive instruction.
Collaborated school-wide with all educators to improve instruction and inclusion of students in communication/behavior focus classrooms, and deaf and hard-of-hearing programs.
Planned and facilitated family art nights attended by 200–300 community members, strengthening school-family engagement through collaborative art experiences.
Recruited and managed over twenty regular community volunteers across two schools to more fully support large K-2 classrooms of young learners and strengthen family involvement.
Designed and taught lesson-sharing sessions for district art teachers during collaborative work sessions.
Advised on district-level arts committees like the Master Arts Education Plan and Starter Kit Supply research and selection.

Co-planned evaluation methods and coordinated evaluation logistics and materials for the initiative, including site visits, observations, student work collection and documentation across forty-four schools.
Managed volunteers for evaluation, development, and training for interview protocols and photographic and video documentation.

Coordinated logistics for professional development workshops.
Appointed Adjunct Instructor at Portland State University for Continuing Education Cooperative Credit courses offered through the Initiative.
Co-developed and taught workshops for educators for various symposia and professional development sessions.

2009

Co-developed educational programming. Coordinated educational programs and tours. Planned logistical details of all education events, including lectures, discussions, workshops, and meetings.
Created and maintained a system for tracking all program travel expenses and details, income, and purchases.
Created and maintained a system for coordinating interactive tours in the galleries, from initial inquiries to evaluations.
Managed participation of local artists through the Guild Council program.

Co-curated and managed the annual International Performing Arts Series for Families and International Children’s Film Festival.
Led outreach and marketing efforts for family and youth programs, resulting in significant increases in attendance.
